Day 22: Will Power and Dedication

Whew! Hey everyone, :)
Sorry I haven't written a blog in SIX DAYS!! Things got super busy, and I haven't had time to do this in a while. Though, tonight, I had time so I figured I'd check in with you guys and tell you what's goin on... Haha, I'm not even sure where to start... But for one, with the new band (Me, Kolby, Mark and Ralph) Ralph has agreed to be the temporary bassist. Everything sounds AMAZING by the way; his equipment is outstanding! Lol. But anyway, he let me borrow a lot of his guitar pedals (stomp boxes) and a pedal board (keeps them organized on stage) and a few microphones. There's a ton more, but this was the main stuff... Today I set it all up to how I want it on stage. It's all organized and ready to be taken back and forth between shows. I wish I could take a picture of it and show you how cool it looks, :) lol. The tickets for my show at Sunshine Studios Live also came in today (thanks to Maddix Jay and Julien Depolo). The set lists for all my shows this month are being organized as we speak. So far, it's lookin pretty solid. :) I really hope to see you guys there. I will be able to come hang out and stuff after my show. So if you come, don't forget to come say hi :) lol. I won't have any swag (merchandice) at the show, but as long as enough people come, I'll be able to have some at future shows. And, just fyi, I probably won't be blogging again for a while because of this AP exam I have to study for, and taking the time to perfect more of my songs for talent show on the 13th. (super excited!) but hopefully I'll be back soon. :). Till then, I wanted to share with you guys some info for success regarding will power and dedication. It's mostly a type of mindset. Will power is simply just the concept of doing things, even when you don't want to do them (a lot like taking out the trash when it's windy and snowing)... Nobody wants to do it, yet someone has to do it. Thats just how it is. Lol. And dedication is just taking the time make sure you put yourself in the mindset to following through with whatever it is (usually a goal) that you started with. When it comes to making music, writing songs, or preparing for a performance, these two mindsets are VITAL in being able to get somewhere. Now, obviously, music isn't the only place that they apply to... You can (and should) apply them to every goal you start. I know I do. Yeah, having the end in mind and knowing how to get there is great, but when it gets gritty half way through, you HAVE to know you can finish and thet you won't give up in the middle somewhere. There WILL be things you don't feel like doing sometimes... That's a given... But working on aquiring these habits of doing the things you don't want to will IMMENSELY improve your odds of achieving that ending you pictured and desired to have at the end of your goal. :). Sounds easy right? Sure. But their not. These two are probably some of the hardest mindsets and habits to aquire and get use to. It definitely takes practice... And even then, you'll have that little urge to just do what you feel like doing instead of what may need to get done that you don't feel like doing. But, one way or another, it pays off every-single-time, as long as you stick with it. I can promise that. :) Also, I put all this information into my blog, not because I want to force people to do it, but merely because I know it works for me, so (for the people who are interested) maybe they'll want to try it out too and see if it works for them. Who knows, it might be the start to a chain reaction that spreads all over the place. :) wether it's right or wrong isn't the issue... It's a matter of who is willing to try it. For some, it could just be a reminder of what they use to do, and it sets them back on track... Or maybe people read this who already have the same ideas and it just helps them keep it in mind. I just want to make a reference for everyone to be able to come to that wraps up all these concepts and shows them how their played out, and possinly inspire the lucky few who try it. :) well, I'll talk to you guys soon... And remember, Anything Is Possible.

Day 16: Diamonds Cut Diamonds

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Today, opportunity came to me like a punch to the face!.. An opportunity SOO BIG that it just couldn't be passed up... But first! (drum roll)... The new big news is that I'm in a new band. When I was in "Detention Romance" we all split up. But now Kolby (guitarist), Mark (drummer), and I have regathered ourselves and decided to start fresh as a whole new group with all new material. So far, it's been excelent!! I'm the official lead singer now (the spot I've craved since forever), and were all super excited about this new band and how organized it is. Now, this is where the HUGE news slams in. See, there's this guy named Ralph from down my street... He used to do all kinds of pro shows and still makes music. We met a while back, but today I walked down there to talk to him about seeing if he would be ok with being the new band's temporary Bassist... And after talking for a while, not only did he agree, but he also said it was ok for us to practice at his house and use all of his pro equipment! He even said that we could use his equipment at our shows as well! This is HUGE! I'm STILL freakin out about it! Lol. Its crazy loud, crazy clear, and crazy perfect for what we plan to do. If your reading this, you all should give this guy a round of applause. No joke. It's not very often that somebody is willing to help out THAT much. I mean.. Were now set for ANYTHING that comes our way... All because of him. :). Wooo! Also, I know that I'm talking about a band mostly... I'm still doing my solo thing, but I'm just as excited about both. So, prepare to come to some outstanding concerts. Haha :D. Now, let's get into todays moment of inspiration. I heard that diamonds are used to cut diamonds because nothing else can cut them due to their hardness... And this got me thinking (this was a long time ago). If people were diamonds... Who are the cutters and who are the ones being cut? Who isn't even a diamond at all? So, I thought about the qualities of diamonds... Diamonds go through a bunch of heat and pressure to even be a diamond (going out of the comfort zone to achieve a goal)... They are also found deep underground and take a long time to form (taking the time to think hard and think things all the way through before they even start their journey). A diamond has to also be found and cut to become a valuable, pure, sellable diamond (doing what it takes to make themselves what they want to become... the most pure and great they want to be, and makeing it become habit as who they really are). Then their looked at, and the best one cuts the rest. (the most focused and dedicated ones with determination and self-motivation that have succeeded and set an example to help shape others as some of "the best of the best" as well). Anybody can be a diamond. Even when they start at ground zero with no help. But a diamond somewhere in the line has to help cut the other diamonds... A form of giving. A helping hand. However, obviously, there had to be that first diamond ever that became a cutter without any other diamond to cut it. Sure, it was a tougher road... But it had to happen. So, let's step back and look a little deeper into the meaning of this. All I'm saying with this example is that when you work your butt off to achieve your dream goals and follow through with your plans, all of it, at some point or another, will pay off and build you a road, brick by brick, to take you straight to achieving that ultimate goal. But! You have to keep a straight head, and always stay focused... Even when it seems like the next step is impossible. And, have a diamond mind set too. The better and more pure you build your mind with focus and self-motivation and CONFIDENCE... the more nobody can break you down and destroy your design program. If you let people break you down and get to you (because people just aren't nice sometimes) then the more the design gets altered and things fall apart. So, always stay on that solid track with a diamond mindset. Eyes on the prize. And here's the most important part. The top diamond is the cutter. Thus, to be the best and make the absolute most of anything, you can't forget the others that you can help once you've made it (or are ahead of). Think win-win. If you did it, then give them a chance to succeed and be strong like you too. And if you're offered help or find an opportunity, TAKE IT. It may never come again. And when a diamond gets cut (you getting help), it strengthens and adds value to the diamond. This means that by finding opportunity and acting on it, could just be that final stretch that makes you the next cutting diamond in the group. The one that got the golden opportunity because they earned/found it... And if this doesn't happen, then take the hard road. Both roads end in the same place. The hard road just tests your limits. Show no limits and think big, and act on it... And you'll be there in no time. But when things go your way, don't get too arrogant and wrapped up in yourself. That will only turn you around. Because the cutting diamond is the big helper. The nice one. The one that cares about the other diamonds trying to achieve their dreams too. This is why I am Allll about helping out ANYBODY I can to help them achieve their goals. Or at LEAST, give them something to help them push themselves a little harder to accomplish their dreams. When I'm on stage, I live MY dream... So, I'm going to use what I have accomplished to help everyone and anyone who needs it, an opportunity to become the next cutting diamond. To help them achieve that ultimate dream of theirs... And I can't let them down. It's not an option. From friends, to fans to complete strangers... If they are willing to fight to for what they want, and have the right mindset, then their the ones I fight for to help them reach that dream and make it reality. Even if they are totally lost, maybe, just maybe, I can set that spark of light to help guide them in the right direction. This is my revolution... I see it. I feel it. I envision it. This IS REAL. And it's happening NOW. And we all can take part in it. We all can jump start this movement. We.. CAN open the eyes of MILLIONS, if not BILLIONS, of lost, strugling people, and make THIS NATION. And ALL other NATIONS a place where dreams don't just exist, but come together to change the world as one! To give EVERYONE, that little boost to take on this challenge and give their 110% in everything they do to create a spike in success, not just for themselves... But the entire world! Now, I can't do this alone. So, help me spread these ideas... Try them... Teach them... Dream... Create... Live them. If every one person spread these ideas to two people and helped them succeed, just imagine how fast the world could change. Do the math. 1-2-4-8-16-32-64 etc etc... We have a chance here. Lets take it while we still can! And remember, Anything Is Possible.

Day 14: Freedom

Hey guys,
I am glad to report, that I now have a facebook. :) Also, I have had a lot of time to think... And music has been on my mind quite a bit... I really want to get into pro recording studios and learn what I can do and maybe even play around a little to see what I can design. Music is art, and that's why I treat it so delicately. I can spend weeks at a time just writing a verse to one of my songs. And, sometimes, even after working day in and day out on a song, I'll throw it away. And when I record stuff its even crazier... I will not accept anything thats offbeat or not easy to listen to. I don't release anything or perform for anybody untill I know 100% I have it down. That's why a rockstar's real career name is "recording artist" (obviously also a performer)... But that says a lot, and I don't live up to anything less than the label. When I record... It has to be art. It has to provoke a strong feeling... It has to inspire... It has to.. Pop. So, for all you artists who read this, keep this in mind the next time you hit the studio or stage... It's not always talent... It's the art. :). Afterall, who buys talent? Ha, ur born with that... People buy art. Art THEY like. So to be a successful musician, remember that it isn't the artist that makes himself famous... It's his or her connection with the crowd, and the fans that support the artist. That's why I love my fans so much. My entire career is dead without them. In my mind, every single person who clicks "be a fan" button on reverbnation becomes part of my family. Their willing to help me, so I'm always willing to return the favor. Simple as that. Every song I write is for them to connect with, enjoy, and have a little peice of my life in there too. My hard work is for them. For me too... But mostly them. I feel like I'm letting them down if I don't give my 110% for them... So, you better believe I'll go as far as to give my 111% for them 101% of the time. 24/7/365. :)... I want to make a difference in the world and start something completely unheard of in the music industry that will change the world, and millions of lives. (for the good). But anyway... Freedom. What about it? Well, it's a tool. A tool to do anything you want with. We all have it. The freedom to think. To create. To Imagine. To speak. To feel. To choose. Etc. But how many of us actually use it to its full potential? Truth is: not many. "but I live my life to the fullest, Thomas!" -_- yeaah, no. Lol. Another truth: we all have the freedom to design our dreams, and actually live them. You are free to step up to the top of the pyramid and have the WORLD at your feet... In your hands. Imagine that. The world isn't a weight on your shoulder. It's just a ball of clay that we all can shape. What we make it is up to us. We have a chance to go so much further at every level. We have the freedom of knowledge... Friends... Hands to build with. Are your hands building? Think about that. Are you active in making the fullest of who you are and the limitless things you can do? Ha, imagine if WE ALL did it TOGETHER. It'd be a REVOLUTION! A new ERA for that matter!... Or... Are your hands destroying? Are they sitting at home, unhappy to learn at school? Unhappy to go to a 9-5 job? Unhappy to have to help the next stranger who could use your help? Think about it. But destruction is retrogressive... A limit. It's slavery. So... I'm free... Are you? We were born to do anything. And anything is possible. So lets do everything. As a team. Lets use our freedom to help out someone new... Lets use our freedom to make that left out person in the corner have a friend and finally smile. Lets build a nation wide team! America... The U.S.A... That's a big name. But who built that name? WE DID!... And a big name was to signify a land of BIG things. BIG ideas. BIG concepts. BIG dreams... BIG success. So what are we waiting for?!?! Let's make America what we imagined and planed it to be! It's up to YOU... ME... US. don't ever forget it. Do this for yourself. It's YOUR world. :) Haha, just imagine the possibilities. And it's all because of the freedom we all have. Even in desperate times. Well, good night everyone. And remember, Anything Is Possible.

Day 12: Fears

Ok, prepare to be inspired...
I want you to think about your biggest fear. Write it down on a sticky note and put on ur wall, in a binder, in your wallet, purse, car, etc. Some place where you will see it the most. I do this all the time, and it works. I promise this is the best way to conquer your fears. But first... What is a fear? A fear isn't what someone is scared of... It's simply something that a person doesn't want to face at a given point in time. For instance, a fear of death... Yeah, ask an old man (who use to be afraid of death) whos suffering and laying on his deathbed. He isn't scared of death; he'd rather die at that moment in time. He just didn't want to face it till then. But! He didn't face it untill he HAD to. Well, theres the problem. A fear is a limit. It holds you back from something. So, if you can get rid of something bad before you absolutely have to, isn't that easier than being cornered untill that day comes? If you were in jail, and the officer gave you the key to get out, would you just put it under your pillow in the cell and just wait till they forced you to get out? No, of coarse not! Lol. Anybody would take that offer and get out of there! Now, think of your fear as your jail cell. Now, here is the key that will get you out. Truth is, the key to conquer that fear has been in your hand ever since your fear began... Here is where the sticky note comes in handy... We have all heard the term "face your fears"... Well. Here is a creative and easy way to do that. In order to get rid of a fear, it's not always just doing it to get rid of it, it's more of a mental thing. So, everytime you see that sticky note think about how and where it limits you in your life. Perhaps nothing will come to mind at first. Thats ok. It will later the more you see it. But then, after you look at it, think about WHY your fearful of whatever it may be. Now, tell yourself that you aren't going to let this fear hold you me down. Repeat it in your head a few times then right away, make a small goal to help you get over the fear. Face it in baby steps. Make sure you take action! Remember that a fear stays with you and hold you in "a cell" all the time untill you get yourself out of there. It's constant. So, the more places you put the sticky notes the more "in YOUR face the fear will be. Eventually you will be so sick of having to be reminded of that fear that you'll actually commit to those babystep goals you break yourself free from the fear. Say your scared of singing in front of a large crowd... (like I was) put up an array of sticky notes that say fear of singing in front of people... At first, I thought "ohhh heck no, I'm not even going to try. I can't stand that feeling." but when I read the sticky notes day in and day out, I stood up and thought "you know what! Who am I to just let this stop me like that! I'm better than this!" I got sick and tired of it. I wanted to show those sticky notes who was boss. (as weird as that sounds). So I practiced my singing all the time, and took baby steps to get rid of it. First, I started singing loud in the house when everyone was home. (I chose not to listen to any bad comments I got) then, sand as I went for walks down to seven eleven. Then I would sing a song at the park. And there were times when it was REALLY tough.. But every time I accomplished one of the babystep goals, I felt like I could do more. So, I kept up with it. Till eventually I was playing and singing songs concert style, where they actually gathered around me to focus on my voice. Scary, but I did it. And once I finally reached the point where I could do it around a lot of people, I even enjoyed it! Who knew! :). And it's all thanks to those sticky notes that poked their toungue out at me everyday. However, there's a million and one fears... But how YOU conquer the ones you have can be easy and unique.. Try out the sticky notes. You just might find it effective. Who knows. Even if the fear is something small or "stupid"... This works. With time. Haha. Keep in mind though, that a limitless you, is the best you there is. So why not be the best that you can be?
Well, Happy Easter everyone!!! Sorry for not blogging last night... No internet access. But I'm back and I'll be back tonight too. Lol. This time with some great news! So don't go too far. Haha. And remember...
Anything Is Possible.
Word out,

Day 10: The Presentation

Woooo! Welcome to the show everyone!,
Day 10 is finally here! Thats like... A lucky penny or somethin! :) Lol. Just playin. So, here's the dealio... Tomorrow I have the opportunity to FINALLY get a face book. I talked my mom into giving me a chance to earn one. All I have to do is work my butt off tomorrow to help her get all the stuff shes going to sell labeled ready for her store. It's a lot more work than it sounds like... But you all (by now) know that when an opportunity presents itself I'm always going to nab it. This one is huge and one I AM NOT going to lose. The promo from FB is huge and can REALLY help me out. I'm super excited! Lol. Also, I just finished getting my set lists (non official) set for my upcomming shows. I can't tell you what they are though, its a secret! Mwahahahaaa! The tickets for the Sunshine Studios gig will be for sale sometime by next friday. (my friend, julian, is delivering the tickets to me by then). And remember, their only 6 dollars as long as you buy them from me BEFORE the show. After that the price is raised at the door. So get them cheap while you can!... Ok.. So, lets get down to business now. As you saw, I labeled this blog "The Presentation". This is because I've noticed that presentation is much more than just acting in front of a crowd on stage, or doing a power point in a meeting... Presentation is what others view you from. Your window, if you will... And how a person presents themself determines what people will think of them. For example, when I go to a job interview, my presentation WILL have an effect on wether or not I get the job or not. Thats obvious. But! Here's the issue: A lot of people, especially teens that I see, seem to care less about how they present themselves. Not just how they look or dress, but how they present themselves via voice and language. Why is it that our/my generation isn't seeing why this is EXACTLY why we, as a group, aren't trusted? Simply said, It's ruining our rep, and setting a bad example for the following generations. So many people seem to agree that changing the way they present themselves makes them "fake", or "not who they really are". I can see how that would seem resonable... But if you think about it... Do you think Donald Trump got where he's at by NOT thinking about how he presented himself to others? OF COARSE he thought about it. :). Lol. He knew that he IS who he makes himself to be. So, he took the time to practice the attributes that would get him somewhere... Before he knew it, those same attributes he had to "act out" soon became HABIT and something that became the real him. And look at now. So look at it this way, Your not "fake" if you make it a part of you and turn it into a habit. Try it out. Start small. Lets say you sag your pants for example. Pull them up for a week or two and see just how more "on top of things" you'll feel and the comments you get. Say your a little shy... Present yourself as a confident person and say hi to a couple new (random) people for a week. Have a small convo, and keep it up till you're comfy with it. Then play with it a little bit, and be who you want to be. That person inside, who you know people will want to look up to. Let it shine, even if it is a little out of your comfort zone. Before you know it, it pays off, and becomes a habit. Try making a habit of exploring the dictionary for a cool, new, word of the day. Everyday. And then use it all day long. :). Try starting ur own little fundraiser and pretend it's your personal business. How would YOU run it? It's hard at times to keep up with it to make it a habit, but with a little self motivation, and knowing this will make you successful will keep you workin at it. Heck, try it with a friend... The possibilities are endless. Think about it... Haha. Well, I have to go. Thank you for stopping by. :) And remember, Anything Is Possible. :D
Till next time,
Thomas Thomas II

Day 9: No Limits

Found you!
I'm sure you're all wondering where day 8 went... Well, I'll tell you. I didn't add it for a reason. I did it to represent something that everyone goes through... Everyone has, at some point, had a success streak. Perhaps it was something as small as waking up on time all week for once, or something as major as keeping a family together and at peace with eachother... Whatever the case may be, theres one thing that always happens. That streak gets messed with by something, which throws you off. Lets face it... Life happens. But here's the problem... Too many people let these interferences take over and they quit. When I see this happen it makes me sad. And it seems like it happens more often than not. :(... So! How does this tie with my blog?!? Well, in my blog, I made sure I posted every night to represent my "streak"... It was a repetitive "success" if you will. But out of no where, one comes up missing. "Life happened". But now, I'm showing you now, that this is no reason to give up. Ever. So, I got back on my A-game and removed/took care of any flaws that were slowing me down. When a branch falls in the road. Don't sit and cry or turn around... Move it and keep heading toward your destination. You design your own limits. So if you create no limits... Whats stopping you? Nothing. :). So, even though my missed blog was just an example, that doesn't mean that I haven't applied this to my life in countless situations. I assure you I have. And... It works. Don't let life conquer you... Conquer life. When life causes a "missed blog", accept it, remove it, fix it, and well... "Keep on bloggin". :). And No matter how hard something is that you might be going through, just remember that life hapens, but if you build urself with no limits... You can go anywhere. Switch the tables and find the way to make life happen the way you will it to. It's a big concept... But life will always give you what you ask from it. As long as you have the right attitude. :). Well, ladies and gents, I hope you try this concept out. But, for now, heres some news. I got a call back from Full Sail. They can't grant me studio time for a recording project. However, she guided me with a lot of helpful information regarding what I can do as a music artist to get ahead of the game and have a better chance at "making it big". We also talked about life at Full Sail and what it would be like. Long story short, its perfect for me, and I cant wait to attend. Untill then, I just need to keep myself in the studio. :). I'm also having a lyrical and musical BOOM today! So, before it's too late, I have to go and write this stuff in my head down. :). Thanks for reading. I'll see you tomorrow. And remember, Anything Is Possible.
Night,
Thomas Thomas II
